Barr Bulldog Clubs

DC Delegates

  • The D.C. Delegate program is a wonderful opportunity for students from Barr Middle School to see and experience our nation's capitol.  The entire trip is organized and designed to give students the chance to make first-hand connections to the curriculum learned in 8th grade.  It is also a wonderful chance for them to travel and experience a variety of new things.  Washington D.C. offers students a window to new cultures, lifestyles, sites, and much more.

DC Concessions

  • 8th grade students work in the concession stand to earn money for the DC Delegates trip in the spring.


Teammates Mentor Program

    • Grades 6-8

    • The mission of TeamMates Mentoring Program is to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential with the help of a caring adult mentor.

Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl

  • Grades 6-8.

  • A team activity with all participants around one computer answering 100 multiple-choice questions. Areas covered include math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and just plain fun trivia.  Students practice weekly, September- November.

Academic Quiz Bowl

  • Grades 7-8.

  • Academic Quiz Bowl is a lockout buzzer system competition in which two teams of six members face each other answering questions on a variety of topics.  Practices are weekly October- February.

Science Bowl

  • Grades 6-8. Students practice weekly  to compete in the Middle School Science Bowl competition; October- January. This is for all students who like Science and
    are interested in competing in the Science Bowl competition.

MathCounts

  • Grades 6-8. Students practice weekly for Math Counts competition. October- January.

  • Sponsor: Ms. Schmidt


Yearbook

  • Grades 6-8.  

  • Yearbook is an organization that promotes school spirit and captures school memories while building leadership for students.  The goal of Yearbook is to build confidence and communication skills socially with peers and school staff, while also refining photographic talent to create aesthetically pleasing designs.

Jr. Islander Power

  • Grades 7-8

  • Focuses on agility and strength training.  Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 am

National Junior Honor Society

  • Grade 6-8

  • The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1929.


Roots & Shoots

  • The mission is to improve animal migration and habitat protection on Nebraska prairie. This group meets monthly.
